An afternoon to learn, connect, and take part
Gaucho Expo introduces the culture of Rio Grande do Sul to Brazilian and American audiences in Newark. Visitors can attend a civic ceremony, learn about the Farroupilha Revolution, discover the cultural meaning of chimarrão, and enjoy musical and artistic presentations.
The talks will be presented in English, making the historical and cultural program accessible to the local community.

Culture in motion
Music, voice, and traditional dance bring historical knowledge into a living cultural experience. Based in Viamão, Rio Grande do Sul, Arte Nativa joins the program with a repertoire connected to Gaucho dance and music.

Vocal and instrumental performances, along with traditional dance, share the same stage.
Cristina Sorrentino
A soprano and classically trained vocalist whose work includes opera and productions inspired by the music and culture of Rio Grande do Sul.
Etcheverry Santi
A tenor, baritone, multi-instrumentalist, and classically trained music professor.
Arte Nativa Folk Dance Group
A traditional dance group from Viamão, Rio Grande do Sul, with a repertoire connected to Gaucho dance and music.

Public transportation
Rutgers University Newark is served by rail, PATH, bus, and Newark Light Rail. From Newark Penn Station, visitors can continue by Newark Light Rail to Atlantic Street Station. Newark Broad Street Station also serves the area. Check Saturday service before traveling.
